The Lost Mountain Middle School Bands
The Lost Mountain Band is the largest student organization on campus, and is led by Brittany Mori and Vincent Rose. With a student body serving around 1,000 students, just under 500 participate in band. The ensembles include two 6th Grade Beginning Bands, 7th Grade Concert and Symphonic Bands, 8th Grade Concert and Symphonic Bands, Jazz Band, and Pep Band.
Recently, the Lost Mountain Middle School Bands have been invited to perform at the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in 2026, the Reinhardt University Honor Band Clinic in 2025, and the Music for All Southeastern Regional Concert Festival in 2024. The Lost Mountain Bands consistently earn straight superior ratings at the Georgia Music Educator's Association Large Group Performance Evaluations, and have had students consistently earn spots in Atlanta regional honor ensembles as well as the District XII Middle School Honor Bands and Georgia All-State Band. In 2024, the Lost Mountain Bands were part of a consortium with composer Tyler S. Grant to commission the piece “A New Light”. In 2025 the Lost Mountain Bands were named a national Advocacy in Action Award Recipient in the category of Community Involvement from Music for All.
Sixth Grade Beginning Band classes are divided into homogeneous instrument groups to allow for smaller class size and maximized individual instruction throughout the year. Brass Classes take place on stage in the LMMS Theater, and Woodwind/Percussion class takes place in the Band Room. The Seventh and Eighth Grade Bands meet equally in Brass/Woodwind Percussion sectionals and the “full band” setting each Friday and depending upon where they are in the concert cycle. All grades receive instrument specific specialized sectional instruction with professional musicians on a regular basis.
