The LMMS Band program consists of just under 500 students -- that's roughly half of the school population! The Award-Winning LMMS Band is recognized as one of the top middle school band programs in the state and has received national recognition. In 2025, the LMMS Band Program received the national Music for All Advocacy in Action Award for their community outreach and involvement. This year, the 8th Grade Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at our band equivalent of the state championship, the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conference in January 2026. The LMMS Bands consistently place students in the All-District & All-State Bands and earn consistent straight superior ratings at our GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluations which serves as our statewide assessment. Your student will get the opportunity to be a part of a program with a great culture of hard work and success!
Our goal is to teach students the importance of teamwork & the rewards of hard work. The Lost Mountain MS Band offers: (1) a highly-structured and regimented environment of care, success, and and high expectations; (2) a basic and easy step-by-step approach to playing an instrument with success; (3) a peer group consisting of some of the best-behaved & highest-achieving (athletically and academically) students on campus; (4) fun social and community events; (5) so much more!
In 6th grade, there are only two outside-of-school commitments during the year consisting of a Showcase Concert in November to show off all they've learned in the first semester, and our annual Spring Concert joined with all of the 7th and 8th grade bands in May. It’s very easy & fun!
In 7th & 8th grade, band works with everything! We have students in all advanced classes, choir, orchestra, travel sports & athletics, cheer, dance, gymnastics, Student Council, Academic Team, and much more. Click here to see some of the activities we do in band as well!
